"If they are not"

[edit]

From the page: "If they are not, these should be tagged with {{PD-BritishGov}}, not {{PD-self}}."

  1. If they are not what?
  2. This is almost entirely a category of categories, so what should be tagged with {{PD-BritishGov}}? Surely not every image that is a descendant of this category, since there is nothing to stop someone from putting a photo here that they took themself, and if they wished to dedicate that to the public domain than {{PD-self}} would be correct (though I recommend {{CC-zero}}. - Jmabel ! talk 19:34, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Almost a year later and no one has addressed my question. - Jmabel ! talk 03:48, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Jmabel: the notice is not comprehensible to me. I suggest removing it entirely. MKFI (talk) 06:56, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Jmabel: It should be interpreted as "If these files are not of the British Army, they should be tagged with {{PD-BritishGov}}, not {{PD-self}}." and the category should be identified as diffusing. Pinging @Kintetsubuffalo as author of that snippet.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 10:05, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@RZuo, MKFI, and Jeff G.: User:Kintetsubuffalo hasn't edited Commons in years, so I don't imagine they will be responding.
Jeff, if the files are not of the British Army, why would they be in this category? - Jmabel ! talk 16:49, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Jmabel: And yet, 15 files are in this category. Can they be diffused?   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 05:48, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
